Best Pizza in Pahrump Goes to Nicco's
Nicco’s Pizza…Voted Best Pizza in Pahrump
The inaugural Chamber of Commerce Pahrump Awards took place in December 2017, and after all the votes were tallied, Nicco’s Pizza rose to the top in the best pizza category. Nicco’s is located at 2201 Postal Road and has been serving pizza, subs, calzones, and all things Italian for over 14 years.
Rebecca (Becky) Sorensen has been in the Italian restaurant industry for 50 years. She started in California in 1968, and her business grew quickly to three stores. Becky loves to cook. She received her first pizza dough recipe from a friend, and she continued to work with it until she created a style of her own. It’s the same recipe they use today.
Their food is made with fresh ingredients daily. Nine specialty pizzas are offered on the menu, but if you don’t find what you like in that list, you can create your own by ordering the “Anyway you want it. Up to five items” version. Their regular offering is a thicker crust, but if you prefer, you can order thin crust instead.
Although they’re known for the pizza, their Calzones are popular too. They also offer a variety of Italian entrees including dishes such as Linguini with Red or White Clam Sauce, Fettuccini Alfredo, Homemade Meat Lasagna, Eggplant Parmesan and much more. You can add a dinner salad to any of the meals or order one of their meal-sized salad specialties. Sandwiches are also on their menu including their Famous Super Sub which includes just about everything except the kitchen sink. In the beverage department, they offer soft drinks, beer, and wine.
Becky believes in giving back to the community and has been involved in many charitable activities throughout the town. She is also known for helping other restaurants in the area even if they too serve Italian cuisine.
Family is important to her and just about every one of her family members has worked at some time in the restaurant. Some are full-time employees while others help out when needed. Regular employees are also treated like family and are happy to be working there. She considers her customers part of her family as well. She tries to remember everyone’s name but admits sometimes they slip her mind. She’ll remember the next time though.
Since winning the Pahrump Best Pizza Award, business has been booming. At first, they were so busy it was a bit overwhelming. But they’ve grown to meet the needs of all of their new customers. Tourists passing through on their way to and from Death Valley, RVers here for a brief stay, regulars that come down once a month from Amargosa, in addition to the loyal local residents all make up their clientele. They also offer delivery and catering for those wanting to eat at home.
As my friend and I sat there enjoying some of their first-place pizza, there wasn’t one stranger that came in the door. All patrons were welcomed as if they were long-time friends, whether it was their first visit or one of many. Their pizza was voted best in town which is well deserved, but their friendly, family-oriented environment is first class as well.
