It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce held the first Biz Expo (which was the original name). Having been an extremely successful event over the years, it has continued to grow. An estimated 1300 visitors come through in a weekend.

The purpose is to give the people and businesses of the community a chance to engage, learn about each other, and develop relationships. Having a successful business is about building a loyal customer base, and this is an opportunity to enhance that process.

It’s not often consumers can visit with 50 local companies at once and discover what they do, where they’re located, and meet the people involved with the company. Nor is it common for companies to interact with this many potential customers at a time and have a face to face discussion on what they can do for them.

It is a non-retail event, so there will be no sales. However, most exhibitors hand out goodies of some kind whether it’s candy, pens, or a memento symbolizing their company. The brand new 2018 Annual Chamber magazine will be hot off the press and available as well.

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary, there will be a raffle for two 40’’ Smart TVs. To participate, you can find a coupon good for two tickets here on Pahrump.biz and either bring a printed version or have it on your phone. If you don’t locate the coupon, you can purchase tickets at the Expo, 1 for $2 or 3 for $5. The drawing will be held after the conclusion of the event, and the winners will be contacted directly by the Chamber.

The Chamber hosts several events in town throughout the year. The festivals are community focused and designed for family fun. The Biz & Home Expo is focused on the Chamber members and gives them the opportunity to showcase their businesses to the public. They are ready to answer any questions you have and see if they can help the guests in any way.

Chamber CEO, Chris Erwin, says, “the only downfall of the event is that we don’t have a larger facility so that more businesses can participate.” You must be a Chamber member to be an exhibitor. There are approximately 350 Chamber members and only room for 50 displays.

There are 12 major sponsors this year including the following companies:

  • Pahrump Wellness Center (formerly Back to Roots)
  • Platinum Home Mortgage
  • Nevada State Bank
  • K. Nelson Law
  • Pahrump Valley Auto Plaza
  • Mercy Air Services
  • VEA/VCA
  • Wells Fargo
  • William Lyon Homes
  • American Family Insurance
  • Nevada Realty
  • Pahrump Nugget Hotel & Casino
  • LBRE
  • Tranquility Mental Health

In addition to employees from many of the businesses in town, representatives from two other valuable resources will be available at this event, Allan Parker from Nevada Small Business Development Center (NSBDC) and Paul Miller from Nye County Regional Economic Development Authority (NCREDA). These two organizations offer help to businesses and promote economic development in Pahrump and Nye County. Outside of the expo, they can be found on the second floor of the Nevada State Bank Building, in the same area as the Chamber.

Some of the services they offer include training, counseling and assistance on starting or expanding your business, licensing guidance, help with the development of a marketing strategy, and creating a business plan among other topics. Find out more about them by talking to Allan and Paul at the Expo or visiting their offices. There is also more information in a blog post dated May 11, 2017, here on Pahrump.biz.

At this writing, tables for the Biz & Home Expo are not sold out yet, but they are going fast. They are sold on a first come first serve basis. If you’re a Chamber member and interested in engaging with the community about your business, contact the Chamber at (775) 727-5800.

Those interested in attending the event, come to the Nugget Casino banquet room on April 27 and 28. The Chamber looks forward to having both the businesses and the community participate in the 20-year celebration of the Biz & Home Expo.
